The European Union Approves the 21st Sanctions Package Against Russia

On July 23, the EU Council officially adopted a new set of restrictions against Russia after several weeks of negotiations and disagreements among member states.
The sanctions target an additional 218 individuals and entities, including those from the energy, finance, cryptocurrency, and military-industrial sectors. The EU also banned entry into European ports for another 41 vessels from Russia's 'shadow fleet' and imposed restrictions on 33 Russian banks and financial organizations.
Separately, the European Union has suspended the automatic review of the price cap on Russian oil until July 2027. This decision was explained by the unstable situation in the oil market and issues with shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
The news directly addresses the market: "Will the EU adopt a new sanctions package against the Russian Federation after June 25, 2026, by the end of the year?" — the event has already occurred.
