Trump Cancels Strike on Iran for Negotiations Over the Strait of Hormuz

Oil prices dropped sharply after Donald Trump called off a planned attack on Iran and expressed a desire to quickly negotiate on the nuclear program and shipping.
On August 3, Brent fell by 4.8% to $83.70 per barrel. The market reacted to hopes that the U.S. and Iran could ease tensions and restore normal shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
However, traffic through the strait remains weak, and tanker security has not been fully restored. Therefore, while the cancellation of the strike improves the situation, it does not yet mean a return to pre-war shipping levels.
This news relates to the market question "Will the Strait of Hormuz return to normal by September 30?" The cancellation of a new attack increases the likelihood of normalization, but the outcome will depend on a real agreement and the restoration of shipping.
