Trump and Zelensky to Meet in Washington Amid Discussions of New Ceasefire

The White House has confirmed that Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky plan to meet in Washington on Tuesday, July 28.
One of the main topics will be a new initiative for an aerial ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian and American representatives are discussing a proposal to halt strikes on energy and other critical infrastructure, which could then be passed on to Vladimir Putin.
At the same time, the Kremlin has stated that it is ready to consider new proposals from Trump to end the war, although there is currently no specific date for the resumption of negotiations. Moscow continues to insist that military actions will continue until its goals are achieved.
This news relates to the markets asking, "Will Russia and Ukraine reach a ceasefire agreement by December 31, 2026?" and partially, "Will there be a face-to-face meeting between Zelensky and Putin?" The meeting between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine has not yet been agreed upon, but diplomatic activity surrounding the ceasefire has intensified once again.
